You can use familysearch.org - its free. Just go there, click on search, click on IGI (International Genealogy Index - its on the left hand side) and then enter the details of the names to see if the marriage comes up. In fact, why not just enter the Scrivener name for that area and see what records are there. Enter Scrivener on the surname and then British Isles, England, Bedford. I just did it and over 200 people came up with that name in the area. Only saw a marriage in Toddington for Thomas Scrivener in 1817 and not to a Liz Smith.

Toddington isn't far from Luton. About one stop up the M1 (which of course wasn't there then!!!!) Maybe he moved from the village of Toddington (a nice little place) to the city of Luton to find work?

Thomas and Elizabeth are on the 1851 Census in Luton - Thomas Scrivnor Head Married 63 Ag Lab Birthplace Luton Elizabeth Scrivnor Wife 57 Plaiter Birthplace Luton James Smith Widower 48 Lodger Ag Lab Birthplace Luton Elizabeth would have been working in the straw hat trade plaiting straw. Perhaps James was her widowed younger brother?

The Thomas with all the children born in Toddington was in Toddington in 1841 married to Sarah. Maybe he was married twice, or it may be different Thomases.
