Unfortunately I don't have the copy of the wil,l there is just a note that the will had been contested, naming my Gt Gt Grandfather's 3 sons as contesting it and also the names of the 3 defendents, the note was written on the back of my Gt Grandparents marriage certificate although why a note was made there I don't know, I believe my Gt Gt Grandfather died in London as yet I can't find a date or place for his death, I do know he was living in London 7 years earlier at the time of the 1861 census. I have one Will that was contested in Chacery Courts. i found this out because the court schedules are included in the Times. I'm not sure if the London Chancery Courts would do cases from all over the country tho - it's only these courts that the Times seem to give times for. May be worth a look. Although it wouldn't give you details it'll give you a better idea of timescale of when the case was heard and this in turn might be reported in a local paper Zoe |

Do you have a copy of this Will? Do you know when Probate was granted, or even if it was? I am not very sure of my facts here, but I have a feeling that a Will would have been contested in the Consistory Courts in the first instance..what area are we talking about? OC |

Is there anywhere online I can find out about contesting a will. My Gt Gt Grandfather's sons contested his will. Can I find any more information on the outcome etc.? Rosemary |
