The National Illustrated Family Bible: The Holy Bible with the Commentaries of Scott and Henry Containing Also Many Thousand Critical and Explanatory Notes Reverend John Eadie (Editor) Bookseller: Paladin Books (Coventry, WAR, United Kingdom) Price: £ 125.00 [Convert Currency] Shipping within United Kingdom: £ 3.35 [Rates & Speeds] Add Book to Shopping Basket Book Description: Cassell Peter Galpin and Co, London, Paris and New York. Full-Leather. Book Condition: Good. No Jacket. Folio - over 12' - 15' tall. This large family bible contains many colour and black and white plates, all in very good condition. The coloured ones include Moses and Aaron before Pharaoh, the Exodus or Journeyings of the Israelites, Bible Natural History, Jerusalem from the road leading to Bethany, Solomon's Prayer, the pool at Bethesda and prevailing religions of the world. Internally the binding is good and the pages bright and clear. The front title page is a riot of colour. However, the binding is not in the same good condition. While still attached to the spine the covers are almost hanging off. The leather on the spine itself is flaking off although still there. The corners of the front cover are bound with pierced brass plates and in the centre of the cover is a sunken holow of a regular curved shape bearing the words 'Holy Bible Illustrated' tooled into the bottom. There are geneological plates at the front of the Bible which have been partly completed. The first entry concerns the marriage of William Evans (born April 9th. 1860) to Betsy Cavill (born June 23rd. 1865) in Sculcoates, Yorkshire on January 10th. 1884. The last entry records the death of Percy James (Evans), born in Derby on May 24th 189, at Derby in 1895. As well as a religious book of some quality and a project for someone interested in restoration, it provides an ideal starting point for a research project in social history. The asking price includes the extra postage required for UK inland deliverly but an overseas buyer would have to discuss the various shipping options of this weighty tome. We are sorry that we only take payment through ABEBOOKS but are happy to answer queries by e-mail. Bookseller Inventory # 001045
