can anyone suggest were i could possibly get any info on my great grandad patrick welsh who died in the battle of somme

We have found my wife's great uncle on the site. The information recorded there is quite detailed 'Son of John W. and Mary Ellen Mullard; husband of Maude Alice Mullard, of 3, Thr*** Lane, Southport' leaves us no doubt as to his identity.

If his name is on the Thiepval Memorial (worth googling that!) then it means his body was never found. There are something like 70,000 names on it I think - including my great uncle's. He was in KRRC. Christine

My grandfather was at the battle of Somme, he survived and lived till he was 92 bless him. I actually have a photgraph of him sitting on a horse at the battle surrounded by soldiers, the majority of which never returned.... i guess i am one of the lucky ones to have a grandfather who did and who told me many stories and is one of the reasons i am tracing my family tree today janet

well thanks to you all i have had a great morning ive found my great grandad on one site and my other graet great grandfathers brother on another site and the amzing thing was its the anniversary of his death today he is also on war memorila plaque just up the road from me ...and i had no idea i love it when things go easy for once just thought id share my happiness with you all
