Michael has 100+ names in his tree,i fear that he has quite a few to delete. Best advice i think at this stage is to either purchase a programme such as Family Tree Maker (FTM) or see what programmes could be downloaded, then when the tree is complete on that programme upload it to Genes. Bit of a game i know, but worth it just for the safety of the backup info. Glen |

I had exactly the same problem last week apart from i had entered the same person twice. I emailed Gr and this is there reply To remove a relation click on their name in your tree. This will then show you their details in the box below. You will see the word 'delete' and just have to click on this to remove the name from your tree. You can only remove a name from your tree if it is at the top or the bottom or has no other branches attached to it. For example, you can remove the child of a relation. However, if you have added the wrong father, you would need to remove any children first before deleting him. If you cannot see the word 'delete' next to a name it means that you cannot remove this relation with out removing other names first. You will need to look at your tree and either remove names from the bottom upwards or from the top down depending on where the relation is that you wish to remove. I had to remove 11 people from my tree and then readd them which was a right pain. Hope this helps Jennie |

What you really need is a programme that you could export your GR tree to ,edit the tree on that programme then export the Gedcom back to GR. You do back up your tree separately to GR anyhow, just in case GR goes pop don't you? Glen |

A quirk of GR as you have found is if the name connects to two or more other people you cant delete them without delete the descendants first, can you edit the names instead? Glen |

Help please someone, I am having trouble removing certain ancestor's as I have them all wrong. Tried to delete them but cannot as they are attached to multiple family. I do not want to delete my tree as I have put to many hours into it. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks Mick |
