Paul I read about this a long time ago. There was a cafe in Warren Street (off Euston Road) which had tiles outside and was originally a Welsh dairy. |

Hi Paul, sorry for delay, had to go out. As you come up King Street from the Broadway,on the left, before the Town Hall, is a pub. I cant remember what it was called when Morgan`s was next door, but when Morgans closed, the pub was enlarged and became The Penny Farthing. I think it is now called something like August Moon. But it is always changing hands and could be anything really. The original pub was just one small room. Sylvia. (It will drive me mad now trying to think of the pub`s original name) |

You could always try contacting ITV to see if they are aware of any other broadcasts of the programme... They may be broadcasting it on one of their secondary channels They may have sold it on to one of the other satellite/cable channels Christine |

Sylvia, I used to live in Chiswick and went to school in King Street Hammersmith. The name of Morgan's Dairy sort of rings a bell.... whereabouts in King Street was it? |

I live in Hammersmith W6 and a good few years ago there was a shop in the main street, King Street, called Morgan`s Dairy. It was a lovely shop with all Welsh produce, butter, cheese etc. Mr. Morgan was out at the crack of dawn doing deliveries on his milk float. When they retired the premises were integrated into the pub next door, so the end of a lovely small shop, which was greatly missed. Sylvia. |

I'm gutted - a friend just told me there was a TV programme a day or two ago called Disappearing London and it featured the Welsh who came to London and set up dairies. My ancestor Rachel Jones was just one of these and I'd have loved to have seen the programme. I never realised that the Welsh were known for their dairies in London, rather like Asians are now known for their corner shops. Do any of you have knowledge of this little bit of cultural history - did any of you see the programme? |
