may I? it help help absorb the facts I am a bit too inexperienced to work this little tangle out for myself, but hope someone out there can suggest what it might all mean. I can't get past my grandmother in my research - I am so confused..... Eliza Elizabeth Ayres (birth cert) 1887 at Lucas Street, E1 - father George Ayres and mother Louisa Ayres (formerly Bradford). Nan's sisters: Rebecca Louisa Anstead (birth cert) 1895 at Cable Street, E1 - father George Anstead and mother Louisa Anstead (formerly Bradford) Julia Anstead - can't find a birth, marriage or death although she acted as witness at my nans marriage. Emma Louisa Anstead (birth cert) 1899 at Winterton Buildings, E1 - father not entered and mother is Julia Anstead I cannot find a marriage between either George Ayres and Louisa Bradford nor George Anstead and Louisa Bradford, only a Louisa Cooper. I have a death cert for Louisa Anstead in 1898 at the Raine Street Workhouse Infirmary - although I now think this might be the wrong Louisa) I can't find a birth or death entry for George Ayres or George Anstead. My nan, Elizabeth Anstead married Albert Gritton (born 1889) in 1912 while at Winterton Buildings, however she had a daughter Margaret Louisa Gritton in 1906 born to George Gritton and Elizabeth Gritton (formerly Anstead) although can't find a marriage here and the family do not think Margaret belonged to Albert as he was often cold and distant from her. My grandad didn't have a brother called George by the way. The only 2 census I think I can rely on is: 1891 - Lucas Street, E1 George Henstead (1855- Shadwall) Louisa Henstead (1862- St George East) Louisa henstead (1880 - who I think must be Julia) Elizabeth Henstead (1888 - my nan) 1901 - Winterton Buildings, E1 George Anstead (1853 - Widow - Whitechapel) Julia Anstead (1879) Eliza Anstead (1888) Rebecca Anstead (1896) and ( emma Anstead (1900 - Julia's daughter) I 'd love to think that this was all clercial errors, but I doubt that. Regardless of who Eliza's mother and father was (married to each other or not) I would really like to get past this. Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated. Rgds, Jeanne
