The marriage for Ernest and Florence confirms the date-I had two for that one. I don't know if the first one was a marriage or 'partnership' tut tut. He emigrated before the 1st world war to Aust as he fought for them. Jennie

The same site I linked to before shows the immigration of four Scarlls (click on Passenger Index at the top of the screen): Charlres, Marion, Mary and Vera. The first three seem to have travelled together, and disembarked in Fremantle in 1947. Vera disembarked in Wellington in 1946.

Jennie - Is this of any use, I have my friend's NZSG index cd at the moment and have found a Bride & Groom entry for an Ernest Freeman Scarll to a Florence Nicholls in 1915. There is also a Burial index for a Flossie Florence Scarll in 1982 (age 88) -Michelle

No Scarlls in NSW, but I've found the following very brief reference on the Australian government records site: SCARLL Charles William Augustus [Application by British migrants for assisted passage] Date range: circa 1948 - circa 1956 This is presumably a relative in view of the unusual name. The information seems to come from Perth, so the family may have settled in Western Australia. There's nothing else online, but you can apply for a copy of the record to see if it gives any more details: http://www.naa.gov.au/The_Collection/recordsearch.html (choose 'search now as a guest')

Have checked NSW without any results. Am looking for immigration of Ernest Scarll to Aust prob between 1900 and 1908 and posibly a marriage to Lillie Edwards and divorce but these may have been in NZ. The only positive fact I have is a marriage in NZ in either 1914/15 Jennie

What are you looking for? The BMDs for New South Wales are free to search and give a little bit of info. There are shipping lists for Qld. Let us know what you want. I may have to go out for a little while but I will check back.

Have just spent last hour trying to find a couple of names in Oz and NZ...apart from parting with 99cents several times have achieved nothing. Is it just that I have become complacent about all the 'free' info that we have for the UK or am I not looking in the right place? Jennie
