Has anyone subscribed to this? I have Ancestry but need some Irish info. Also is there anything on the English one that wouldn't be on Ancestry? Thans.

Hi Elizabeth, Yes I subscribed to it a while back, it has the 1841 and 1871 census returns. The Boyds Marriage Index 1538 -1840 and an the marriage license allegation records 1694-1850. New collections are the Teachers registrations 1870-1948 and Boyds inhabitants of London. There are various other things like Boyds burial index and apprenceships records you can search. courts records and wills. What I would recommend is paying I think it is about £3.75 for 72 hours if you want to search it just for irish records (which didn't help me) or £5.75 for British origins for 72 hours or £7.95 for 72 hours to seach both british and irish records. then you will see if you think it is worth joining, it is £12.50 for a quarter. I must admit I hav found out a few things that I couldn't find on Ancestry, mainly from the 1841 census. Good luck Fuzzy x

Morning, Elizabeth. I subscribe to Origins and have found a few things on there which are not on Ancestry. Just a few days ago I found an interesting reference to an apprenticeship which must have been added recently. It has Boyds Marriage Index as well. I must admit that now that the 1841 is on Ancestry it is not quite so useful as it was, but there are a few different things.

Thanks everyone I had to get dinner ready and iron. I don't know why people need to eat every day. My dead friends don't. Oh, time difference as well. What I want to check is my elusive William Huband born abt 1790 somewhere. I've checked all England. He married in Devon 1818 and named his daughter Sarah Tracey Huband. The Tracey gave me the Irish idea. Tracey is nowhere in his wife's family. The second is Andrew Moore born 1824 Ireland. Love these Irish. come to Australia and put place of birth Ireland, nothing else. Thanks again.

I have quite a few Traceys in my tree and they were from Oxfordshire. No Irish connection at all. The researcher from the Oxfordshire FHS told me that it was a corruption of Thirza which was a popular name at the time.
