Is it just me, or does anyone else find the new method of searching the BMD records on Ancestry takes forever now. Having to gauge where the next letter following the first letter of the surname will occur on hundreds of pages (unless it`s `a`)makes me feel I`m losing the will to live......or am I doing something wrong.? Hadn't noticed anything different.......just been looking for a marriage, and did it by name/years/quarters as usual. Reg |

You only have to do that on the very few qtrs that do not show up initially on a search. Normally you just type in the name you are looking for and the year and then all four quarters normally show up for the page that name appears on. Kath. x |

Hi thanks to all who replied. I`ll have another try at the deaths images again. I`ve never had this before....I had to keep clicking back to get the next quarter in each year as I couldn`t get a range of dates as was usual before and there was only an initial to click on, not the usual input of the surname. It took forever to search for just one surname, trying to guess where in hundreds of pages the one I wanted might occur. I hope they don`t start to use this method altogether. It worried me because I just filled in a questionnaire about the site etc the other day, and wondered if this was an `update`? Jay. |

Hi, Thanks for your reassurances.I`ll have another try at the deaths tomorrow. It took me forever tonight as there was no way to get a range of dates etc, and no input of surname. I had to guess whereabouts the actual surname I wanted might occur in hundreds of pages.after clicking on the first letter of it.. Fine if the letter following the initial is an `a` but a nightmare otherwise. I filled in a survey the other day and thought this might be an `update` on the old method which is easy to use. Jay. |
