I suspect you're in for a long trawling session. The GRO index images are available free, semi-indexed, on Ancestry (that's not the same as the FreeBMD database of transcriptions of the GRO index, currently mostly transcribed up to about 1910). If you can find the previous marriage first (allowing him to have been 15 - just too early, but making sure you don't miss the earliest - looking up until the date of the marriage you know about) that will give you the mother's maiden name (MMN). Then you can look for children born around the time of the 1st marriage up to the date of the 2nd one, and that have the MMN you found via the 1st marriage record. Hope that makes sense. Christine

Hi i am looking for some help. My mums father is called Ralph Donovan born 27/08/1923 boston Lincolnshire he married Iris Launchbury born 13/12/1926 Boston Lincolnshire he married her about 1958. Before he married Iris Launchbury he was married but i am unsure who to but i do know that they had a son, which makes him my mums half brother. My mum is now looking to contact him and i thought seeming as i was doing her side of the family tree at the moment i would help look for him. The question is i am stuck and don't know what to do. Can you please help me. Many thanks Jennie
