If its any comfort Fuzz, I have several parish records where, yep, the groom is shown as a widower - sometimes both groom and bride shown as widows. So good luck

Fuzzy It depends! Sorry! It depends how meticulous the Vicar was in writing up his records. It depends whether the groom mentioned that he was a widower. I have a second marriage of someone who was born, bred and died in the same village. He has an unusual first name and I found his first marriage and the death of this wife. But at his second marriage he is recorded as a bachelor. Both wives are mentioned on his gravestone. OC

Hi all, Once I can rid myself of the children after the summer holidays I am heading off to the Surrey History Centre and if I can build up the courage the LMA. what I would like to know is this...........I have a marriage taking place in 1802 I think this is a second marriage for the groom.....(wont go into details you will all have dropped off to sleep before you get to the end of this!!) will the Groom be listed as a widower in the parish record or am I asking for too much !! Fuzzy xx
