Getting nowhere fast!!

I have no birth certificate for my father, no record of one anywhere, no baptism, no record in the school he says he attended and no record with the Fire Brigade from the war. I do have his identity card can I learn anything from that ? I do know who his mother was, but not his father. Julie

Are you sure he had the same name when he was little as he did when an adult?

Hi Julie I'm presuming your dad is no longer with us, in which case have you checked his death cert for a birth date and still can't find the info? If you know his mum's name can you find a marriage for her to someone of your dad's surname - this might give you a start if he 'lied' about his age for some reason. Regards Looby
