Sticky I have just had a good scroll through the record Merry mentioned. Interestingly, there isnt a single person called Russell, or anything like it, and over a period of 300 years, there are only a handful of girls baptised a s Catherine/Katherine/Kitty etc. The only C/Katherine in the 1700s was Katherine Dimmock bap 27 Jun 1784 - ten years later than yours.(I have known children be baptised as late as this, though) So - not baptised in the PC, or not born there, or a non-conformist, or was bap with a different name! Or had previously been married. Sorry, but I think you will have to do a general Hertfordshire trawl of all Church Records. Do have fun! OC |

On the other hand.....the IGI is supposed to have the PR's online: Kimpton C048121 1780-1850 E072552 C072551 1857-1890 M072552 1559-1837 C072552 1559-1857 Maybe her family was non-conformist? Merry |

Sticky Fingers Although the LDS have filmed a great number of Parish Records, they certainly havent filmed them all. And many of the ones they have filmed have never been transcribed. So, yes, its worth a look at the PRs. OC |

Do you live anywhere near an LDS family centre? You could hire out the film! Merry |

I have been looking for Catharine Russell b abt 1774 in Kimpton, Herts. Too old for a birth cert. No records on familysearch*org. So is there even a chance it could be in parish records or am I wasting my time going there. It is a considerable drive for me to go an look. Other people looking for her have also had no luck. But I am just not sure where familysearch get their information Thanks |
