I would recommend checking that it covers the areas/times you are interested in. Some counties are better served than others. But I was highly chuffed to discover my gt gt grandmother's 2nd marriage on fho - I got all the details from the cert for about 10p instead of £7!!! nell

It is not just burials. I have just found one of my family death certificates that someone ordered by mistake for 50p The on-line information gives her age, date of death, address husband's name, and name of informant. It works best for unusual names but having the 1881 census as well makes it easy to see how common the name was in that locality. One tip if you find something it is worth looking at the web site for the local family history society. Bristol fhs will give you free look-ups for South Gloucestershire burials.

FHS is a collection of information from various family history societies. It is all accessible on site. You pay for units and then when you search it tells you how much the information will cost before you look at it. nell

Have just looked at the site and it looks quite good and I want to search for burials, for example, in Saltleetby, Lincolnshire it says there are some burials but I don;t know how to search them. Can I search them online (am willing to pay) or do I have to order a CD? Thanks, tom.
