Hi all, any tips please, i have been unable to find my Greenstreet family on the censuses, i started with the 1901, then realised that my gt grandfather was serving in the Boer war, i cant find his wife on it either, did they sign something different if a husband was at war? thanks yvette

well, my gt grandfather was presumably away at war too, but his wife & 3 kids are in Alnwick. She's listed as Head, Married, just as you'd expect. Nothing to indicate where he is, other than his occupation on the birth cert of the baby born Dec 1899! (He's also missing in 1891.) Are you sure his wife isn't there somewhere, perhaps in a totally unexpected area? (I found her mother living with her aunt thirty miles away, both names had been mistranscribed & it was only a stroke of luck I found them at all.)

hi vicky thanks for the tips and your interest, although their name is greenstreet i have found a couple of references with the name green it is so frustating cos you never know if you have the right family or not thanks again yvette
