okay - you've calmed me down a bit There may be a possible link - and I do have to confess one of my best links so far has been with someone where we had a matching surname in the same general area and we didn't prove it for two years I just find it a little frustrating. I'm calling it Hot-Match Rage - the result of endless contacts from people where there is quite blatantly NO connection. At least WIlfred does appear to have been born in the same general area as this ladies relatives with the surname. SO, do we need to start up a Hot-Match Rage support group do you think? Z xx

Zoe, It may be that she has not put this person on her tree yet as she has not proved the direct link. I have two complete lines of people and all their relations, who I KNOW are connected to me, and, although these lines keep intermingling with mine, I KNOW there is a more direct link but as I have no definite proof yet, I keep them on a seperate tree in my FTM - I keep looking though !! - Once I prove it I can then add them all on and I would have generations of info to pass onto the person who helped me connect. So, All may not be lost then in this case. Dea x

I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand. My very first contact on this site was to a lady who had my grandmother's sister's name in her tree. At the time I had only about 50 names in mine, which didn't include this name. OK so I WAS fishing, but I had very little information & very little knowledge about how to search but (fortunately for me) a fairly unusual surname. After a few more weeks investigation, It turned out it WAS her, but you'd never have known from looking at my tree. Thanks Deborah for taking the time to help me establish the link.

Recieved an email asking if we have a connection via a relative called Wilfred XXXX the other day. She was asking about his children so I emailed back saying I dont know of children but giving parents details. Just noticed that I've been given permission to view her tree so thought I'd take a look to see if I could figure out if there is a connection myself (having not heard back from her). She doesnt even have a Wilfred in her tree at all - so I guess she's just contacting everyone with the surname. I have BETTER things to do with my time than answer random emails from non-links. It's just made me SO irate. off to calm down with a cup of tea in teh garden.
