army help please

Hi all,thankyou for your help! im not sure where or when he served or service numbers etc.i was quite shocked to find it on his marriage cert as no-one was aware he was even in the army.i def need to find out more but still unsure of the best place to look? any ideas gladly accepted

Did he serve in ww1, you can look for his medal card at, http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/power-search.asp?searchType=powersearch or if he died in the war. http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp?menuid=14 if his service ended before 1921 his records should if they servived be at kew, after 1921 you will need to apply to, Officers or Soldiers whose regular or reserve service ended between 1921 and 1997 Army Personnel Centre HQ Secretariat Historical Disclosures Mail Point 400 Kentigern House 65 Brown Street Glasgow G2 8EX Tel: 0845 600 9663, option 1, then option 3 you can find info on his regiment at, http://www.regiments.org/ 1908.04.01 5th Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment transferred to T.F. with HQ and A-H Coys at Thorp Street, Birmingham, less elements to form 6th Battalion, and cadet and university units transferred to OTC 1915.03 1/5th Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment renumbered on formation of 2/5th Battalion 1920.02.07 5th Battalion, The Royal Warwickshire Regiment reconstituted in T.A. with HQ at Thorp Street, Birmingham Roy

Did he survive the war. If you have his service number you can get a copy of his army records. You could google and find out about his regiment. Irene

can anyone help ive discovered this morning(as its listed on a marr cert)that my grt grt grandad was a private in the army in the 5th royal warwick,where can i find any further info?? his name was George Haynes
