Local register offices are often very quick in sending certs because they don't have anything like the demand that the GRO has! The snag is that several of the London ones don't do certs for genealogy purposes. The GRO is simpler if ordering certs in bulk which were registered in different districts. nell |

GRO seems to be catching up on back log. Just rec'd email that cert ordered on Jun 15 has been sent. Don't think 2 weeks is bad at all. That plus had send additional funds as needed 3 references checked and within another 30 min had rec'd notification funds had been refunded to my world pay account. For all who feel 2 - 3 weeks is a wait - in Canada is a min of 6 - 8 weeks. Of course they will gladly rush one (2 - 3 weeks) for about $100 Cdn (50 pounds). |

I've just requested one from Carmarthen registrar's office - and was told that they aim to reply within three working days. That's service for you. |

Hi Valerie Goodness that's come down a bit! Not long ago I had to wait at least 3 weeks. Perhaps at last they've got themselves organised at GRO, or perhaps like me everyones overspent on their certificate budget!! Rachelxx |
