Laura, yes, she could have been registered without a name, in which case she will be listed under the surname and with 'Female' where the first name would be. The birth registration could possibly be in the quarter after the death registration (for instance, if a doctor registered the death and a family member registered the birth later), but if your father registered both then they would be in the same quarter. It is also possible that her death registration could have just 'female' and the birth certificate her actual name. Kate.

I have been searching this morning but to no avail. Is it possible she could been registered without a name? Is there a chance my dad would have registered the birth and death?

Laura Not sure why you nudged, but to reiterate: a) any baby that is born alive should have a birth certificate. My husband's elder brother lived for 2 minutes and his birth and death were recorded on the same day. b) stillbirths were registered from 1927 and as the posting above says, the register is closed except to parents and siblings of the stillborn child. Details about the register also in the post above. nell

This is the general GRO ordering page - other info if you follow links on the page. In particular... << Obtaining Stillbirth Certificates Due to the sensitive nature of stillbirth registrations, the procedure for ordering a certificate of the entry differs from other types of certificates. We will only send out the application form after we have been contacted by phone or in writing by the mother or father (if he is named on the certificate). In cases where the parents are deceased, a brother or sister can apply if they can provide their parents’ dates of death. The cost of the certificate is £7. The one that dies should have both. the still born will be on the still born register - which isnt very accesible to anyone other than a parent of the child. do you have a name/date for the one that lived two days?

Hi I have been trying to find more info on 2 of my sisters, one who lived for two days and one which was stillborn. Would the baby who lived for two days have a birth and death certificate? Would there be any record of the stillborn baby? I have asked my mum for further info but she has said that the stillborn wouldnt have been registered.
