Hi i am searching for a William Whitehead born 1907 in Hull Yorkshire. I am searching for his death as can't find his birth. The only death i can find for a William Arthur Whitehead is March 1986 volume 7 page 46. What are the chances of this being him. I know to make sure that it is him i will have to order the certificate but just wanted to know what you thought before i did. Many thanks Jennie |

I had a look on Yorks BMD 1906-1908 and found this: Yorkshire Birth indexes for the years: 1907 Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Reference WHITEHEAD William A Drypool Hull DRY/93/130 Which, presumably, goes with this GRO record: Name: William Arthur Whitehead Year of Registration: 1907 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Sculcoates County: East Riding Of Yorkshire Volume: 9d Page: 187 Christine |

Any chance he could be in Beverley? Name: William Arthur Whitehead Birth Date: 11 Mar 1907 Death Registration Month/Year: Mar 1986 Age at death (estimated): 78 Registration District: Beverley Inferred County: Yorkshire Volume: 7 Page: 46 Do you know how old he was when he died - take its a relative or yours- can no one remember? Or can anyone remember if thats his birth date? |

And this is the death record you found: Name: William Arthur Whitehead Birth Date: 11 Mar 1907 Death Registration Month/Year: Mar 1986 Age at death (estimated): 78 Registration District: Beverley Inferred County: Yorkshire Volume: 7 Page: 46 which ties in quite well with the record above. If he wasn't much of a traveller, then Beverley's not all that far from Hull. Christine |

Is either of these relevant? Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1929 WHITEHEAD William A HAGSTON Lily St Hilda, Leeds Knowsthorpe Leeds CE37/C/123 (Sep qtr, Leeds N 9b-806) Yorkshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1940 WHITEHEAD William A BATEMAN Ada Leeds Registered Building Leeds RB/13/A/99 (I can only tell that it wasn't Sep qtr - the search won't bring up images for the other three quarters) Christine |

Another thought - be prepared for that name to be... Levina (as you put it) Lavina Lavinia at least! There appears to be one birth recorded as ''Levina''' on GRO and ''Lavina'' on Middlesbrough (Tees Valley) BMD, for instance. Christine |

Thankyou for your help Christine. I will bear it in mind about the different spellings of names and about the system not being 100% upto date. Thankyou again i really appreciate your help. Jennie |
