Spain doesn't have a GRO index!!!! If you know the exact date and place an event happened you can get a cert. I'll nudge up a thread called ''Spanish Genealogy'' by Kevin Norton on which I put several of my long winded replies about Spanish Family History!! Merry

Hello Angela , I have had the same trouble, I know that my family have Spanish origin infact my Nan says that she can remember he grandmother wearing a mantilla. I have only managed to find lists of men who died in the peninsular wars and not men who fought that survived and may have brought back a Spanish wife, it is especially hard as they seem to have ended up in poverty (i do not have many registered bmds) and I eventually found the daughter orphaned and in the work house by the time she was 14. kind regards Caroline

I have never found a site for BMDs in Spain. The Mormons probably have some records but I have not tried to find out exactly what.Have a look at Cyndis list if you haven't already done so.You might find something there. If you ever find out about BMDs or passenger lists please let me know! Fran

a) I have no idea how or if Spanish registration indexes are searchable. You could try googling 'Spanish genealogy'. b) Not much idea either - there are lots of Spanish ports and lots of English ones too. I would imagine they'd go from a northern Spanish port and arrive in Southampton/Portsmouth, but who knows? They might have gone overland to a French port. Again, try googling. nell

Hi Everyone x Is there any way I would be able to check the Spanish BMD Index for 1911/1912? Also if people came to this country from Spain in 1911-1920 where would they catch a boat from? and where would it dock? do you think there are any passenger lists for the above? ive tried sites for passenger lists but only managed to find passenger lists either going to the USA or coming to England from Ireland or the USA or Canada. Thank u for any sugegestions xxx Angie xxx
