hiya, i agree with glen, a personal message is much nicer, what i have found also is to add, 'I look forward to your reply' in my request, and i have more replies because of it, hope this helps Julie |

Hi Diane It can be a minefield with Hot Matches,as for contact with potential matches it can be a very strange thing. The temptation is to try and provide a lot of details hoping that the more you provide the more likely something familiar appears. Whilst that may be true,a long message with dates, names and dates of children/parents and siblings can be very confusing. It is best if you can just to send a short but concise message (says he who rambles!!) with a name, place of birth if known and year of birth, then try to establish if the 'match' is really a match. One thing to avoid is using the GR automated messages, they are often ignored by people, they are so impersonal they are often ignored. Better to spend a few minutes typing a personal request, then hope that you get a reply, and don't be put off if you don't get an answer for a week or two, some people only log on every few weeks.
