Thankyou for all replies - they have been most helpful and I am very glad to say that from a phone number provided by Sheila I actually spoke to my cousin this afternoon! I don't know who was more shocked, him or me, but as this is the first contact in over 60 years that is not surprising. Apparently, my mum's brother had been asking my cousin to try and find my mum over 20 years ago, but without the internet and not knowing her married name, they did not know where to start. Proof that this web site really works. Thankyou once again to all the kind people who do look ups for people, out of the goodness of their hearts. You have not only helped with my family history, but possibly changed my family future.

Christine, Have you tried doing a name search on here as both names are listed on this site. Possibly your entry I know but just a thought. And you're right, it's much easier tracing the dead! Good luck, Carol

Hi Christine I can only think of the obvious - the phone book and the electoral roll - but guess you will have tried them already. Good luck in your search Victoria

Hello, if anyone could help me I would be very grateful. My mother died at the beginning of May, and just before she died I started to try and trace her brother, who she hadn't seen since she was about 18. I discovered that he had died in Jan 1985, and having ordered his death certificate I now know that his son registered his death. His son is David William Everitt, and at the time of his dad's death (George Charles Everitt) they were both living at Forest Gate E7.(I do have the exact address). This saddens me as it is not far from where my mum and her siblings were born, and we had gone back there to see where she used to live on a couple of occassions. We would dearly love to meet up with any cousins that we have - we have just one photo of George, as an 18 year old in the army in Singapore. I have managed to trace back 9 generations on mum's side of the family - but it is much easier to trace dead people than living I've found! It would be nice to see if any cousins could give information about my mum's childhood, or could maybe have any photos of her as a girl. Here's hoping anyone can help me, or give advice. Thanks very much Christine
