I am trying to find the marriage of a John H. Harrison (before you all say it I know i am looking for a needle in a haystack) he was born around 1906 so am adding 18 years to that and searching from there I know he married a women called Elsie but I don't know her maiden name it is believed that he spent his life in london. I know it is a tough one but any help would be grateful thanks

Do you know if John and Elsie had any children and if so when? If you know children's names, you could look for possible matches in the birth index. These would have their mother's maiden name logged too. It may be easier to search for John and Elsie's marriage under her maiden name. ( remembering that if it wasn't a 1st marriage for her you'd still not find it, unless she reverted to maiden name) Gwyn

Melvyn I'm afarid its just a matter of trawling through the marriage indexes on Ancestry until you find them. They are free on http://www.ancestry.*co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx remove* I have just had to do the same on some of my family. I searched birth, marriage and death from 1947 (when I knew they were alive) to 2004. Then with using the electoral register on 1837online and the BT website I have found what I think to be a couple of living rellies. I have written to them, fingers crossed. Margaret
