Hi i have just been reading on ancestry and noticed that it only goes back to 1851. I have got back on my tree to 1839 but in the process of triple checking everything. If i wanted to go further back than this is there a website you can use or what happens then? Many thanks Jennie |

Jennie Ancestry goes back to the 1841 census - so you should get some rellies born back in the late 1700's - before that they're not much use - no names, only head counts - so you have to start checking the relevant parish registers Carole |

You can use www.familysearch.org You can also use parish records, but you won't find many online (google the place name+parish records online to see if there are any for the area you are interested in). LDS Family History Centres can order parish records for you to look at. (You will find addresses for these Centres on the above website). County Record Offices for the area will have older records.
