Hi I was wondering if anyone knows how do put a name on to the family tree using Family Tree Maker which has been changed. What has happened is recently after many years of searching we have found my Nan's sister who was adopted. We only knew her birth name which is what I have on the tree and know we have found her we know her adopted name and her childrens names etc. I have entered them on to tree by adding adopted name in name box as well as birth name but it doesn't look right. Does any one know if there is a way you can shows the change of name and show it is the same person as the only other way I could think of was enter as another child with adopted name but would like so you could see it was the person or is the way i have done ot the only way. Any ideas would be great Thanks Karen |

If you go the your nan's sister's name (adopted one if you have added the children to that name); click edite (the pencil) and you get a box show up. From that box you can alter the namr shown on the tree and put an aka in another box. You can then delete the duplicate person to prevent confusion. |
