get all excited when the postman arrives with a certificate, only to spend all afternoon trawling Ancestry and then not being able to get any further back. Definitely time for a drink!!

LOL - I know that feeling well enough, Elaine...oh it's such misery isn't it. I had the same thing at the weekend. Was so excited that I had finally managed to break through a brick wall that's stumped me for two years - just had a peep at the other side - only to find it there's ANOTHER brick wall. LOL LOL - typical!

i know elaine know the feeling was like that with my dads cert.to find out no father on it, its a sure let down avril

hi elaine, yes i agreewithyou , i've just got my 4xgreat aunt 's marraige cert 1855 to see what my 4x great grandfather was and i cant make it out so yes anice g and t would go down niclely hazel.

yes - I have marriage as well - married in Stepney - father Francis Goulding boilermaker!

Oh Elaine how I symphasise, certificate arrived last week, both fathers deceased, and I was hanging my hopes on finding out not only the name but the profession of the grooms father as the groom doesn't appear on any of the census returns marries in 1876 and has dropped dead by 1881!! wine getting opened earlier with every passing day!!
