In the 1920's, my Great Aunt Carrie Appleyard, went out to live in Australia, I believe on an assisted passage scheme. I have managed to locate her marriage, in 1931 to a Russell James Daley and with some help, his death in 1944 and her subesequent marriage to George William Ridley, and then his death. I've been unable to locate Carrie's death. Her nephew Ted, met her around 1945 in Sydney and he says that she was living in Corrimal NSW and that she had a son. I would like to trace her son, who is hopefully still alive, born between 1931 and 1944, but the birth indexes only go up to 1905. Can anyone possibly help me? Here in the UK, we have electoral rolls which can be searched to find living people, do you have that in Australia? Many thanks Lynn :-)

If you know his name or initials, try a search of the telephone directory, I have had success that way. www.whitepages(.)com.au remove ( ) Jennifer

Thanks Jennifer, I will give that a try, but I don't know his first name, which makes it more difficult. Maybe, I will be able to find his mother still listed? Any other ideas would be gratefully appreciated Lynn

Why don't you put a message on the trying to find board? That might generate more response than this board. Janice

I am sooo happy, as today I received a message from a lovely lady called Margaret, who had seen my message on the trying to find board and had been helping me. She put up a free ad in a Sydney paper and has found him! I shall be writing to him today, as he is interested to know about his mum's family, that he never really knew much about. Lynn very very happy!
