I am trying to link the following Thomas Edridges. 1834..Thomas Edridge married Mary Ann Newton ( Pallots) two children 1837..Joseph Thomas 1839..Henry 1841 census Mary Ann living in Shoreditch..London with both children 1851 census Mary Ann remarried, still has both children with her I have a death cert for a Thomas Edridge...November 1941 reported by his mother..cause consumption. 1841 census he was shown living with his mother ( Rhoda ) at St Brides.. London my problem is how can I prove it is the same man.. any ideas gratefully received Tricia

I guess if you could get a copy of the marriage certificate it would give you a parent's name? Perhaps you could trace the family to verify? Maybe his mother was nursing him?

The kids birth certs would give his occupation - you could see if that tied in with the guy living with his mother/his death cert.

Hi Lindy Thanks for your reply. The marriage was too early for a certificate...I found it on Pallots marriage index but it does not give names of parents..I did think it was a possibility that mum was nursing him so that the children were not exposed to the disease, which I assume was also known as TB. regards Tricia

Hi Heather. can see why you are 'positive thinker'...I have now looked on the wedding cert of Joseph Thomas and father is shown as deceased and profession was Mariner.. So doesn't look like the same man. thanks Tricia
