I was given a typed document about the Furnival family. It describes a fire in 1838 that destroyed the tannery business. Included in the document is 'After the Furnival fire which is listed among the 'Great Fires of Warrington', an investigation...' Has anyone in the Warrington area ever heard of the 'great fires'? Apparently the 'Manchester and Salford Advertiser(?)' ran an article on December 1, 1838 about the fire as I have someone's handwritten notes describing the fire (and the notation to the 'Advertiser').
