It's amazing what you find when you aren't looking! There are some useful snippets on Genuki for various different parishes. I found transcripts of a tithe map in 1843 for one of my Glos villages which told me who my gt X a few grandma rented from and how much she paid for her cottage & garden. nell

I agree with you - it's great if you can get 'extra' information about rellies. I like to get photos of houses and villages that my lot lived in and any other snippets. Some of mine come from Wiltshire, and found some of them had taken out insurance policies with the Wiltshire Friendly Society in the mid-1800's. It gave the amount they paid weekly/monthly and what they received on death or at a certain age for children. It all adds interest. Kath. x

I was just poodling about after spending ages on trying to trace some family members, when I googled, Bedfordshire Records Office....I spent the next hour going through the web site and found some information that puts meat on the bare bones of my 3xgreat grandparents.....I found a picture of the church they were married in in 1819, a photo of the village they lived in and details of some of the residents of that village. This sort of info makes them feel like 'real' people, not just names. I hope that I can now do this for other branches of my family. Kathlyn
