How lovely!! isnt it sad when rellies lose touch and one wonders why But its GREAT when contact is renewed again. My Mums half sister was a Home child to Canada in 1909 and in the forties contact was resumed again. Mum died in 1980 and because her address book got discarded in the clear out then contact was lost with her sisters children. Glad to say after much searching and help on the Internet I'm now in contact again with MY Canadian family Glad to hear you have found your rellies too

Thank you, thank you Jo from Oz. I found 4 McElwees on the white pages, sent them to my Aunt and on the 3rd phone call she found her sister..........She had a severe stroke, lost her husband 15 years ago and now lives with her daughter. My aunt just rang me and is quite hysterical about finally getting back in touch. So from her, and me, another big thank you. Rgds, Jeanne

Hello All Visited my elderly aunt last night and she asked if I could try and find out what happened to her sister. She was called Sarah (Sadie) Lockie b1933 in Renfrew, Scotland (her father called David, mother called Mary). She went to Australia on the £10 boat in the 60's with her husband James McElwee (his father was Dennis). They apparently had quite a few children. After being in a hostel, they finally got a house outside Sydney. Letters were written regularly from when she went, up until she seems to have disappeared in 1973 - she has not been heard from since. Whilst I know some people may not want to be in touch, my Aunt is adamant that for no explanation, her last 2 letters were returned with the words 'Vacant Lot' written across them. In later years, we know her address was bulldozed to make way for the Sydney Olympic Village. Is there any way I can find out from records notification of her possible death ? Much obliged for any suggestions. Jeanne
