Hi Christine I apologise for not answering b4, have been in and out and didn’t notice your answer. I should have explained more clearly:- I have Patrick McGarry in 1851 census as widower. Thomas his brother is there with his family:- Bridget Garry abt 1826 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire John Garry abt 1843 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Martin Garry abt 1848 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Patrick Garry abt 1826 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Patrick Garry abt 1845 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Thomas Garry abt 1821 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Source information: HO107/2160 Registration district: Macclesfield Folio: 244 Page: 14 (click to see others on page) Household schedule number: 39 GSU Number: 87139 In 1861 census he is married to Mary still at Derby Street Thomas and his family are still there also:- Bridget McGarry abt 1824 Ireland Wife Macclesfield Cheshire James McGarry abt 1857 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England Son Macclesfield Cheshire Martin McGarry abt 1849 Ireland Son Macclesfield Cheshire Mary McGarry abt 1825 Ireland Wife Macclesfield Cheshire Mary McGarry abt 1855 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England Daughter Macclesfield Cheshire Patrick McGarry abt 1827 Ireland Head Macclesfield Cheshire Patrick McGarry abt 1846 Ireland Son Macclesfield Cheshire Thomas McGarry abt 1823 Ireland Head Macclesfield Cheshire Thomas McGarry abt 1853 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England Son Macclesfield Cheshire Thomas dies and Bridget has re-married by 1871, in 1871 census only Thomas; Mary and another son Michael b 1861 is with her in Tunstall, Staffordshire. (I also have Bridget; thomas & Michael on the other censuses) I have lost Patrick snr While looking for Mary I found a Mary Duffy married with family lodging with a Patrick McGarry born c 1821, wife Mary born c 1818 and family1881 census. I have been trying to find a connection. I was hoping Patrick was her uncle, although birth years are different than in 1861. But, I cannot find a Catherine McGarry born c 1853 Cheshire, also if Catherine was born in 1853 where was she on 1861 census. I cannot find a marriage for Patrick McGarry between 1851 & 1861 in Macclesfield, the nearest is West Derby; Manchester; Warrington (possible? But Sep Q 1856) In 1881 they also have a grand-daughter Mary McGarry living with them? I can’t find Mary Duffy and family in 1891. I have been trawling through sailing records from Liverpool – USA from 1881 – 1891 and have only found the following:- SS Germanic 1881 440 Mary A. Duffy 23 F Spin England U.S.A Steerage 1 Mary Duffy 45 F Spin England U.S.A Steerage SS PAVONIA 1883 1 DUFFY, John 35 M Farmer Ireland USA Forward Steerage 1 City of Berlin From Liverpool to New York 31 December 1888 100 DUFFY, William 21 M Moulder Ireland Lpool Phill Upper Stg 1 None of these are the right ones. So I am well and truly stuck! I still don’t know if this is the Patrick I’ve got in 1851/61? I don’t know if Mary Duffy nee McGarry is the one I am looking for? Or where they are in 1891? I can’t find Catherine in earlier census? Is the Warrington or one of the other’s Patrick’s marriage to Mary? I hope this makes a bit more sense or does it sound like a jumbled mess Thanks for trying Yvonne

I lost some CHRISTMASes - en bloc - after 1871, and a helpful GOONS researcher was able to tell me they'd gone to Australia.
