You will find this site useful http://www.staffs.ac.uk/schools/humanities_and_soc_sciences/census/cen1831.htm Kat That address only gives the statistics, sorry ONS London Library is open to the public and contains full set of census volumes for E& W incl Lancs back to 1801 (Not all records will have survived) ONS Library 1 Drummond Gate Pimlico London SW1V 2QQ Census Customer Services Office for National Statistics Room 43005 Segensworth Rd Titchfield Hampshire PO15 5RR tel 01239 813800 If you contact them they should be able to tell you what is available and where to view it.

Or you could just google '1831 census Lancashire'. Censuses began in 1801 and have continued up to the present day. The earlier ones didn't have much personal detail and mostly have not survived, but county records offices would have those in their area. Additionally, sometimes other local censuses or headcounts were done and again they would be in the records offices. nell
