is there anyway of telling how long someone has been on genes, have a name in my contacts that I have been trying to contact since last october but with no luck. jean

I dont think so, I've got a really good match on my names and every time I add a few more names they appear on hers too. I've been trying to make contact for ages too, though I'm quite glad she hasnt replied as yet because I love all this investigative work lol. It would be really helpful if you could look at the status of a member so that you would know if it was worth making contact, ie if has entered the site thousands of times a day (like some sad people like me :)) the status would be 'live'. Or if hasnt been on for 6 months the status would be 'idle', etc, etc. It would be really useful because it is so frustrating knowing someone out there may be related yet you can't reach them. Bex x

hi bex, thanks for reply, this person seems to be the only one with what I think is a definate match for my dads brother. I have contacted her about 3times now since last year but with no luck. oh well. I agree with what you say tho. jean

Quite a few people put their tree's on the site...but never go to full membership...They can search and read the boards but cannot post on the boards as far as I am aware without being a member.. I think some times when people dont answer it is because they dont have full membership.. Try putting an Email addy in the message asking them to contact you.. that way you will know that you have tried..and they dont have to pay to upgrade.. Mo

You don't need to be a full member to reply to an e-mail sent to you, but you do to iniciate it. Gypsyjoe
