I have LOTS of e-mails in my Outlook Express and it keeps giving me the message - 'To free up disc space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes' It sounds like a good idea because my Outlook Express keeps causing problems - I think it is a bit 'clogged-up'. However I keep 'chickening-out' of pressing the 'yes' button 'coz I don't know what will happen to my messages if I do !! Where will they go? - Will I still be able to get at them ? Can anyone tell me, in SIMPLE terms please, what will happen if I click 'yes' ? I REALLY don't want to lose them.! Thanks, Dea x

Hi Dea I press yes all the time and it only takes seconds, not minutes. I don't think I've ever lost anything. Chrissie

I always say Yes and it doesn't appear to do anything from a user point of view. Takes about 3 seconds for mine, but I probably only have a couple of hundred emails saved. Merry

It's a good idea to do this compacting lark every so often. You may not notice a difference but you can have problems later (corruption) if you don't do it every so often. I believe the message kicks in after the hundredth time you open OE. Cheers, Horatia
