just wanted to know if anyone else have come across a friend /neighbour ect who they have now found to be a rel and how close a rel to you. i have just found out that a set of twins that i went right though school with are my dads cousin's children and he know nothing about them or their dad, even though they only lived 5mins away WHAT A SHOCK it was.

brine, beresford, brittan, horwood,worrall, wilson, wheeldon, woodward, mainly from nottingham, hull, derby, walsgrave on sowe warwickshire

I haven't but I know my cousins best friend from school is also a distant cousin - just have to find out exactly where the link is as we have the same surname but we are connected though a ?x great grandmother.

When I was trying to trace brother-in-law's sister (they'd been adopted by separate families when he was 3) I discovered she'd grown up in the same town as my best friend, and when I told my friend the name, she got out her address book and gave me her phone number!! Turned out they were best friends at school. Quite spooky, as we all live in completely different places now.

HI I just found out a couple of months ago that the lady who lived across the road from me was the wife of my mums cousin and I didnt know untill I started looking at my tree and came across a picture of them. Best wishes Julie

I've discovered I'm related to a friend's husband, admittedly by marriage about 150 years ago, but spooky as I've known this couple for nearly 30 years!

Not me personally but I have two friends who both do family research and it turns out they are related through the husband of one of them. Incidendtly they both live on the same street. Pauline
