Thanks, Sandra. It sounds interesting. If you ever get a chance to go to the WW1 Battlefields in Northern France and Belgium do pay them a visit. It certainly was an eye-opener to me.

Hi Angela, I am hoping to go to Ypres (next year) as that is where there's a memorial to my great uncle who died in WW1 Sandra

Sandra You will enjoy your visit to Ypres (now Ieper), a delightful little town. Is your relative on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial? If so then ensure you do not miss the very moving ceremony held there every evening. Denis.

Hi Dennis, His memorial is at Tyne Cot just a few miles outside of Ypres.I am hoping to get there next year on the day he died. Sandra

This is another interesting WWI site (also Canadian only): http://www.mapleleaflegacy.org/ The Maple Leaf Legacy Project aims to photograph every Canadian War Grave of the 20th century and make these photographs freely available on its website.
