Jennifer, when you look for them is it on the freebmd section - where you enter a name and it comes up with those people who have that name or do you look through the bmd index which is where you have to look through the original written or typed images? The freebmd is not complete so if you cant find it on there you need to go to the index. |

Ae you sure of the PoB - the place of death may be different from their birthplaces. It might be worth somone looking at these (found via ukbmd.org.uk), bearing in mind that some DoB given in the death records are not as accurate as we genealogists might wish! Surname First Name(s) Year District Region Registers At Reference WHITEHEAD Maurice Geoffrey 1925 Mossley Cheshire Tameside MOS/32/4 WHITEHEAD Maurice 1922 Stalybridge Cheshire Tameside STB/16A/58 Christine - sorry, you've found Maurice. |

I suspect that what you are doing wrong is looking at the wrong records. You need the FULL bmd records on Ancestry.........not the freebmd extracts. Reg |

Yes, the FreeBMD database is a fantastic database - and they've done, and are doing, a great job - but they've only got up to about 1910 (with still a few gaps in the years before then - they have coverage charts if you look on their site). They've made a start on 1910-1920, but once you get past 1910, the GRO images are a much better bet. But do watch out: the first names and last names have been taken very literally for the index-markers, so that amendment names, which are out of order, can still get listed as first or last, so it can look as if a block of names just aren't there, unless you go hunting for them!
