Looking for the marriage of: Thomas Moreton (c1816, Comberbatch, Cheshire) Mary L Leather or Lydia Leather (c1820, Ashton in Makerfiled, Lancashire) - she appears in the census sometimes as Mary L and sometimes Lydia. I have found Lydia on the 1841 census with her family, she's a school mistress so not too hard to spot - she's a school mistress agin in 1851 when she is with Thomas and nippers. First child William born c1843 in Ashton in Makerfiled. Other children born Golborne Lancashire, and later Cheshire (Churton by Aldford) I suspect they were married after, or in, 1841 as I have found Lydia with her parents in 1841. I have their son Alfred's (1847) birth cert to get his mum's maiden name (Leather), but i can't find their actual marriage for the life of me. If anyone can help I'd be really grateful! I know there was a thread about people asking others to do their hard work, but I hope no one thinks that's me - genuinely looking for help before I completely do my nut! |

If the marriage was after 1837, it won't be in Pallot's.......it should be in the GRO index. Have you checked the full records on Ancestry? they are free ................. Reg |

I've literally just seen this marriage, it could well be the right one. I think I might send off and see what happens, I have lots of details about Thomas's family which I could at least match up with his dad. Thanks! |
