Lost Gt. Grandpa - can anyone help?? NOW FOUND!

Cannot find any of 'my' CAYZERs on the 1861, there are a couple but think maybe brothers of my Gt.Gt. Grandad all born in St. Georges, Middx. around 1820 - I have John Cayzer (brn.1799/1800 cornwall) and Henry (brn.1825/26) under CAYGER on 1841, my Henry showing living with Mum & Dad aged 15, and then on the 1851 still with Mum and Dad aged 25, next time he is married on 1871, I know that's the right one cos I have married cert. and names fit, but cannot find John or Henry on 1861, by then my Gt. Grandfather, Isaac (born 1860/61) should show with Henry and Margaret but cannot find any of them on 1861- have even trawled through all Isaac's for 1861 census so far nothing showing up - any ideas - whilst on as I can't get birth certs. for the lot born in Middx. 1820's how do I prove if they are brothers/sisters to my Henry? Presume records to be held somewhere does anyone know if local office for Middlesex - Gill |

You hero! Thanks that address Spencer Street is same one as 1871 so must be them - I didn't think about putting an E instead of the C - how did you find that so easily?? Just curious thanks again - off to look now. Gill |

Gill i searched using wildcards. I figured the part most likely to be mistranscribed was the surname so concentrated on the christian name. To get over the fact the transcriber may have done something odd to his first name too I put in 'Isa*' as the first name search. I selected 'gender = male' to route out any Isabelles For age I put in a birth year of 1860 +/-1 year (to get around the fact that the census falling in the middle of the year could mean he'd be over or under one year ) And then for birthplace I just used the county of MIddlesex with no parish. Doing this only gave me a 135 hits so I scrolled through looking for any likely mistranscriptions Hope that helps some Zoe quick rundown on search....... Forename = Isa* Surname = left blank Gender = Male Birth year = 1860 +/-1 Birthplace = Middlesex (parish left blank) |

Hi Zoe, thanks for that I've often put in male/female and still get loads of opposite sex - but will try the wildcards again - thanks for tips, also noticed that on that this page was the father in law, Isaac Turner, with other rellies, so a good census page for me to find! thanks again for your help Gill |
