I'm afraid this is rather long I am looking for John; Patrick; Martin; James and Mary McGarry I have them in 1851 and 1861 but then they are lost except for Mary in 1871. 1851 census transcribed as “Garry” they were living at Derby Street, Macclesfield. Thomas was working as a Hawker. Ages were as follows:- Thomas 30; Bridget 25; John was 8; Patrick was 6, Martin was 3. Also living with him was Thomas’ brother Patrick Widowed (can’t make out if his age was 25 or 35 on image although it says on record 1826 which would make him 25) Bridget Garry abt 1826 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield, Cheshire John Garry abt 1843 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Martin Garry abt 1848 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Patrick Garry abt 1826 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire occ: Agricultural Labourer Patrick Garry abt 1845 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire Thomas Garry abt 1821 Ireland Lodger Macclesfield Cheshire occ: Hawker 1861 census still living at Derby Street, Macclesfield. Correctly transcribed “McGarry “ Thomas was working as a Labourer. It states Thomas; Bridget; Patrick and Martin were all born in Ireland. By now they had another three children:- Thomas born circa 1853 Macclesfield, Cheshire (June Qtr 1852 Vol 8a Page 145) Mary born circa 1855 Macclesfield, Cheshire (June Qtr 1854 Vol 8a Page 145) James born circa 1857 Macclesfield, Cheshire (June Qtr 1856 Vol 8a Page 138) Patrick also living in Derby Street (born c 1825) now married to Mary (born c1827) both born in Ireland. Patrick’s occupation is also listed as Labourer. 1871 census shows they had another son Michael (Ihave birth cert born 1961) Thomas is dead Wolstanton Mar Q 1962 (I have sent for cert). Bridget has re-married Sep q 1967. There is no sign of James, John; Patrick; Martin. Bridget Curley abt 1831 Ireland Wife Wolstanton Staffordshire d Thomas Curley abt 1841 Ireland Head Wolstanton Staffordshire Michael Knox abt 1831 Ireland Lodger Wolstanton Staffordshire Mary McGarry abt 1856 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England Stepdaughter Wolstanton Staffordshire Michael McGarry abt 1862 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England Stepson Wolstanton Staffordshire Thomas McGarry abt 1852 Macclesfield, Cheshire, England Stepson Wolstanton Staffordshire I have Bridget; Thomas & Michael in all later censuses but cannot find John; Martin; Patrick; James; Mary or for that matter Patrick and his wife Mary. The nearest I can find for Patrick is the following:- Name: Patrick McGarry Age: 25 Estimated birth year: abt 1846 Relation: Lodger Gender: Male Where born: Ireland Civil Parish: Frizington County/Island: Cumberland Country: England Source information: RG10/5250 Registration district: Whitehaven Sub-registration district: Harrington ED, institution, or vessel: 7 Folio: 54 Page: 24 (click to see others on page) Household schedule number: 90 GSU Number: 847448 Any ideas greatly appreciated Yvonne

Hi Lindy I have found 2 Martn McGarry's in 1871 one of them is the same as yours:- Martin McGarry abt 1843 Ireland Head Newcastle under Lyme Staffordshire Martin McGarry abt 1845 Ireland Boarder Parr Lancashire I suppose I look for marriage and send for cert to see if his father was thomas deceased. Do you know how to find out about passenger lists to US or OZ during this time span, i can only see 1846-1851 on Ancestry + I think you have to pay. It seems odd they have all disappeared. They surely didn't leave Bridget on her own with Thomas; Mary and little Michael only 1 year old when his dad died. I know she wasn't with thomas Curley in 1881 only Thomas and Michael. Thanks Yvonne
