Have only been doing this for a couple of months but feel i am getting nowhere.I find information one day and then it disappears the next! Is there anyone else who suffers from this or is it just me? There is light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!! sorry probably not a question but feeling lost and a bit confused. No relatives beyond grandparents at present and not much help from living ones as they do not remember(unless they want too!!!!) |

There is a very simple reason why I don't go mad. I already am. |

Firstly, get yourself a family tree program like Family Tree Maker - if you dont already have an ancestry sub - and if you dont, no wonder you arent getting anywhere - then buy the FTM with a sub thrown in - less than £30 for the program and 3 months sub on S and N Genealogy (I think it was). Then when you find something, you can enter it immediately and not lose it. If you are following the right pattern of working, going backwards through birth, marriage and death certs until you get someone born before the 1901 census you should do fine. Lastly, what is the big problem driving you mad at the moment. |

Now you have the death entry, you should have an age at death or date of birth(if death was after 1984) so that will lead you to the birth. After 1911 the mother's maiden name will be there, before 1901 you can get him on the census. In between is rotten luck! Happy hunting, Janice PS Have you found the ancestry beta indexes? |
