Have you got that her mother's name was Hannah Coughlin? Are you sure the record was on Ancestry? The only entry I can see for Elizabeth Hertha Bell Robertson is in the South Dakota Birth index for 1856-1903 and the only information it gives are: Gender: Female County: Minnehaha Father's Name: George Robertson Mother's Name: Hannah Coughlin There's no dates included at all. Of course I'm not viewing the actual image but what I've found with US entries is you don't get anymore than that if you do view the image, it's a waste of the credit, found that out the hard way several times! Maybe someone on here has a US subscription and will view it for you .... Emma |

When I searched for Elizabeth Robinson b 1900 Sth Dakota, this came up as the first record, as I said, it is the 'other' bit I was wondering about. As I've been looking arround, there seem to be a lot of people in the family, with the same 'other' info. Is it a death? South Dakota Births, 1856-1903 Record Birth, Marriage, & Death Name: Elizabeth Hertha Bell Robertson Father: George Robertson Birth: September 10, 1900 - Minnehaha Other: December 30, 1940 Thanks for the info on her Mother though. Suex Got to go I'm afraid, a bit of a family crisis! |

I've no idea to be honest, never come across it before .... My guess would be a marriage if you know she was alive in 1945. Emma |

Hi again, Went and had a look at the record you are talking about, there is not an option to view the original. If you read the description of the database, I think the other date is the file date. They did not start registration in Dakota till 1905 and people then were encouraged to file themselves so pre 1905 is optional. But!!!! within the description was a link to South Dakota records where you can search and order on line the certificate. I did a search for you and below is the info it came back with. (State File Number: 532412) File Date: 12/30/1940 Sex: Female Birth Date: 09/10/1900 City/County: MINNEHAHA Mother's Name: HANNAH COUGHLIN Father's Name: GEORGE ROBERTSON Not sure though if you can get to there without a subscription to ancestry. Let me know how you get on. |

Hi Sue: A friend has a subscription to ancestry. We cannot find out any more about viewing the record. However, while looking around I found an entry on the 1930 census for a Bell H Robertson: Bell h Robertson Age: 65 Estimated birth year: abt 1865 Birthplace: Canada Relation to head-of-house: Sister Mother's Name: Elsbeth Ross Race: White Home in 1930: Rose Hill, Hand, South Dakota She was living with Robert J. Ross (and Donald); Robert appears to be her brother. Bell apparently was born in Canada, but mother tongue was Scotch. Living next door to them was Angus Ross and his wife, Bertha (and children). Interesting thing is that Robert, 'Elsbeth' (looks more like 'Elibith') and Bell immigrated in 1887, the same year as your Robertson's. Might just be coincidental, but thought I would let you know. |
