The fact that the family called him 'Charlie' doesn't necessarily mean his first name was Charles. I think you need to get a bit of paper and write down all you know about Frank and his family and then worry about where Charles fits in. Start with what you know and work towards what you don't know. nell |

For sometime I have had a problem tracing Frank Harris brn Oxford abt 1873. He was alive and well in 1891 and living with his mom in Birmingham, but I cannot find him on the 1901 census, nor can I find a death for him. I had given up looking for him, until now. Very recently my godmother, a much loved aunt, passed away, but before she did she started reminiscing some of the people I knew where not related to us, then she asked me if I remembered Charlie Harris. Thinking she meant my Grandfather, her brother, told her of cause I did, but no she didn’t mean him she meant her cousin Charlie Harris. From the dark recess of my childhood I did remember my Grandfather taking me to see a very dapper, always wore a hat and a button hole, man with the same name. Now my G.Grandfather “borrowed” the surname Harris from his Mothers husband, so the dapper Charles Harris could only be the son of the elusive Frank, or Joseph Harris brn Derby abt 1855, my G.Grandfathers half brothers. All I know about the dapper Charles Harris is that he was brn abt 1889, place unknown but in Birmingham for the 1901 census. I’ve looked until my eyes are blood shot; can anybody else find this man??? |
