It doesn't appear to be on Freebmd, so I don't think there is a way unless you already have a bride in mind and can check her surname. nell

That's the family Paul, but for some reason I cannot find or turn up the marriage, I need his wife's surname..........also, cannot find Williams birth ref to get cert and check her name???? Jen

hi Jen, best bet is to trace williams birth for the maiden name. i had a quick look earlier on the partial images and nothing. have you tried the complete images on Ancestry? I know you said that william died aged seven, did they have any other children before maria re-married? If not did she have any children with the new husband and if so have you tried tracing the birth refs for them?

Hi Fuzzy, Not sure now that she did re~marry, I gave the wrong ref previously that was a marriage for Charles' sister Maria to Stephen Allen, which I already have............but, that's the way it gets you...............Too many family members with the same names Grrr...........!!!!! LOL. I think I'll have to go for the cert drat! Jen

hi Jen, know how you feel, it addles your brain huh?!!! such a pity we cant find williams birth ref, have had another look for you but i cant find it, and as it wasn't law to register children until 1875 they may not have registered him, as you rightly say GRRRRRRRRR xx

you welcome, and remember you not alone.....I am bashing my head against the wall trying to find a maiden name of a woman with two kids neither of whom seem to be registered!! xx
