Sorry for the delay, pc went off the net. I know Thomas did'nt marry Ann Hayes gro informed me of that when I ordered a certificate. Thomas was born 1843 wolverhampton Ann brn abt 1840 wolverhampton. Both living, as married, with Uncle Henry in wolverhampton in 1861 census. Their childrens birth certs say Ann maiden name was george, but no evidence of a marriage to an ann george-off now to baby sit will check later many thanks for replies

What makes you think it was Wolverhampton? The other possible spouse in Dudley was Ann Haynes - is that who you were looking for?. Do you have them on the 1861 census? If you have Thomas's approximate date of birth, we can have a look.

Linda, it was on FreeBMD, but under Dudley, not Wolverhampton. If you apply to the GRO for the certificate you'll need this reference: Marriages Jun 1860 Cunnigam Mary Dudley 6c 200 Phillips Thomas Dudley 6c 200

The local BMDs have spouses' names. Is it definitely Wolverhampton? There's a Thomas Phillips marrying an Ellen Skellam at St Johns Burslem in 1860. Janice

Try freebmd...........the spouse's surname wasn't added to GRO records until 1911, so it won't show on the full bmd's on Ancestry Reg

While I wait for ancestry to sort out their prob with my bank. Could somebody please tell me who the partner was of thomas phillips married wolverhampton june qtr 1860. The gro have already informed me it was'nt ann hayes. thanks
