Thanks peeps!! I think North Side is right then cos it was a Church wedding so....problem solved. Thanks everyone!!

Heather might be right!! High Street Blackburn is not all in the same parish, so if it was a church wedding, which number the parties lived would be relevant to where the banns were read. Most of the numbers (inc 45) are in the Parish of St Mary's, but some addresses are in St John and some in St James Parish. Merry

I hadn't absorbed the fact you said it was a marriage cert. Those acroynms I posted would only be on births and deaths! Was it a church wedding or reg office? Merry

The usual letters you might see are: SD Sanitary District USD Urban Sanitary District RSD Rural Sanitary District These were used between 1875 - 1894. Then 1894 - 1974.... UD Urban District RD Rural District Can't think what yours is!! Expect someone else will. Merry

Anyone know what that means? It's on a marriage cert in the section for 'Residence at time of marriage'. I have the address - '45 High Street' and then 'N.S' underneath it. It was in Blackburn, Lancashire if that helps at all. Not had it before.
