I am getting realy fustrated and might call it a night soon. I have been going through double checking some of my details up to date. Well i noticed on some of them i don't have dates of marriage or death. So i go to Ancestry type in there name and can't even find them. They all lived and died in the same area so surely it can't be that hard can it. Should i just give it a break for the night mmm will try again. Sorry just needed to ramble feel better and ready to look again now. Regards Jennie |

If you are using the Ancestry search, it's the same as FreeBMD and incomplete. Better to trawl the beta indexes. Janice |

Hi Jennie I would definitely suggest that you take a break for tonight, or even for a day or two. It's surprising what you find when you come back with a fresh pair of eyes. I'm doing three trees, and I try to do each line in rotation because that's the fairest way I can think of (lol!) - I will sometimes get really frustrated, leave that branch for a month or two, then come back and find a load of info that I couldn't see before! Or you could try posting some details here and some of us will try and help. Mandy :) |

Thanks Mandy the details i have are John Armstrong Whitehead b.1900 Sculcoates 9d 182 he married a Doris Irvine i'm unsure of her DOB. There children are Maurice and Marlene. I cannot find when they got married or when John Whitehead passed away. But all the family have lived Sculcoates or Southcoates and it only stopped when Maurice moved to Lincolnshire to marry. Any help would be gratefully received. Many thanks Jennie |

You'll just have to make the best use of that 14 day trial to ancestry you've just taken out. Use www.ancestry(.)co(.)uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx and trawl the images - NOT the index. remove ( ) |

Found this on Yorks BMD (searching 1890-1910 for D Irvine)- but it's a bit inaccurate (related-name, not in Hull area) for you to take on board without other checks... Yorkshire Birth indexes for the years: 1902 Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Reference IRVINE Dora L Bootham York BOO/55/88 this looks like your 1900 birth on Yorks BMD... Possible children (1916-1936: presume not all - looks like at least 2 familes, one of which has second names), including Marlene... Just noticed this on Genuki... Registration County : Yorkshire East Riding. Created : 1.7.1837. Abolished : 1.4.1937 (succeeded by Hull and Holderness districts). Sub-districts : Cottingham; Drypool; East Sculcoates; Ferriby; Hedon; Hessle; Newland; Southcoates; Sutton; West Sculcoates. GRO volumes : XXIII (1837-51); 9d (1852-1937). So it won't be called Sculcoates after 1937. Christine |
